ባለፉት አስርት ዓመታት በመቶሺዎች የሚቆጠሩ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎች በአገራቸው ኢትዮጵያ ከአፍሪካ አህጉር በተለየ መልኩ ተንሰራፍቶ እየተፈጸመ ካለው ጭካኔና ርህራሄ የጎደለው አምባገነናዊ ስርዓት ለማምለጥ ሲሉ እግራቸው ወዳመራቸው አገር በመሰደድ ላይ ይገኛሉ፡፡ የኢትዮጵያ “ሠራተኛና ማህበራዊ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር” እንደዘገበው ከሆነ እ.ኤ.አ በ2012 በግምት 200,000 ኢትዮጵያውያት ሴቶች በውጭ አገር በአብዛኛውም በመካከለኛው ምስራቅ አገሮች የውጭ የስራ ዕድል ለመፈለግ ተገደዋል፡፡ ከእነዚህ ኢትዮጵያውያት ሰራተኞች አብዛኞቹ በኢትዮጵያ ተንሰራፍቶ ከሚገኘው አምባገነናዊ የእሳት ነበልባል አመለጥኩ የሚል እምነት ነበራቸው፣ ሆኖም ግን ወደ ሳውዲ አረቢያው የእሳት እረመጥ ተወርውረው እራሳቸውን አገኙት፡፡

በኢትዮጵያውያን ስደተኛ ሰራተኞችና በሌሎች በሳውዲ አረቢያ ጥገኝነት በጠየቁ ዜጎች ላይ ገደብ የለሽ አደን እየተካሄደ ነው ቢባል ማጋነን አይሆንም፡፡ በዚህ ወር በየዕለቱ በሚባል መልኩ የሳውዲ አረቢያ ፖሊሶች፣ የደህንነት ኃላፊዎች፣ ወሮበሎች እና ህገወጦች ኢትዮጵያውያንን/ትን ሁሉ በየመንገዱ እያደኑ ይደበድባሉ፣ ያሰቃያሉ፣ አንዳንድ ጊዜም ይገድላሉ፡፡ የሳውዲ አረቢያ ፖሊሶች ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎችን ሲደበድቡ የሚያሳየውን የዩቱቤ የቪዲዮ ምስል መመልከት ለህሊና የሚሰቀጥጥ ነገር ነው፡፡ የሳውዲ አረቢያ ወሮበሎችና ህገወጦች ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎችን በየመንገዶች ሲያሳድዱ፣ ሲያጠቁና ሲገድሉ የሚያሳየው የቪዲዮ ምስል ለኩነቶቹ እውንነት ምንም ዓይነት ማብራሪያ አላስፈለገውም፡፡ በአሁኑ ጊዜ የሳውዲ አረቢያ ወሮበሎችና ጋጠወጦች በኢዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎች ላይ እየፈጸሙት ያለው በቪዲዮ ማስረጃነት ተደግፎ የቀረበው የሰብአዊነት መብት ረገጣ ወንጀል በጣም የሚዘገንንና በሰለጠነ የሰው ልጅ ህሊና ሊታሰብ የማይችል ነገር ነው፡፡

ኢትዮጵያና ሳውዲ አረቢያ፡ የአንድ ሳንቲም ሁለት ገጽታዎች፣

ኢትዮጵያና ሳውዲ አረቢያ የአንድ ሳንቲም ሁለት ገጽታዎች ናቸው፡፡ የሳውዲ አረቢያና የኢትዮጵያ ገዥዎች ከአንድ ጥለት የተቆረጡ ናቸው፡፡ የሳውዲ አረቢያ መንግስት በሰብአዊ መብት አያያዝ መዝገቡ በመጥፎ ተምሳሌነቱ ይታወቃል:: በተመሳሳይ መልኩ የኢትዮጵያ መንግስት በሰብአዊ መብት አያያዝ እንደ ሳውዲ አረቢያ ሁሉ ያስጠይፋል፡፡ የሳውዲ አረቢያው ገዥ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎችን በጣም ሰብአዊነት በጎደለው መንገድ ከግዛቱ በኃይል እንዲጋዙ/እንዲባረሩ የሚያደርግ መርህን ተከትሏል፡፡ በኢትዮጵያ ያለው ገዥ መደብም በተመሳሳይ መልኩ በሀገሩ ግዛት ውስጥ ኢትዮጵያውያንን/ትን ከሚኖሩበት ቀያቸው በግዳጅ ወደሌላ አካባቢ በማጋዝ አስደንጋጭ የሆነ የሀገር ውስጥ የማጋዝ (ሰፈራ) መርህን ተከትሏል፡፡ የሳውዲ ገዥ አናሳ የእምነት ተከታዮችን አሰቃይቷል፣ የኢትዮጵያ ገዥ መደብም እንደዚሁ አድርጓል፡፡ በሳውዲ ያለው ገዥ መደብ ዜጎችን በስፋት በዘፈቀደ በቁጥጥር ስር ያውላል፣ በእስር ቤት ያጉራል፣ ያሰቃያል፣ እንዲሁም በህግ ከለላ ጥላ ስር በሚገኙት ዜጎች ላይ ህገወጥ የእስር ቤት አያያዝን ያራምዳል፡፡ የኢትዮጵያ ገዥ መደብም በተመሳሳይ መልኩ የሳውዲ ገዥ የሚፈጽማቸውን የአፈና ድርጊቶች ሙሉ በሙሉ ይፈጽማል፡፡ የሳውዲ ገዥ የባሪያ ንግድን እ.ኤ.አ በ1962 በአዋጅ ካስቆመ በኋላ “ከፋላ” “kafala” (ተያዥ ያላቸው ስደተኛ ሰራተኞች፣ ሆኖም ግን በባሪያ ንግድ የአሰራር ሁኔታ የሚሰሩ) የሚል ቅጥያ በመስጠት ብዝበዛውን ቀጥሎበታል፡፡ እ.ኤ.አ በ2009 የባህሬን የሰራተኛ ሚኒስትር ማጅድ አል አላዊ ሲናገር ከፋላ የሚለውን የማደናገሪያ ቅጥያ ከባሪያ ንግድ ጋር አመሳስሎታል፡፡ እ.ኤ.አ የ2013 ዓለም አቀፍ የባርነት አመላካች አሀዝ/Index እንዳመለከተው 651,000 የሚሆኑ በባርነት ተይዘው ህይወትን በመግፋት ላይ የሚገኙ የኢትዮጵያ ዜጎች ሲኖሩ ከእነዚህም የዓለምን ሶስት አራተኛ ከሚይዙት ከመጀመሪያዎቹ አስር አገሮች ኢትዮጵያ አንዷ መሆኗን በግልጽ አስቀምጧል፡፡

ሂዩማን ራይትስ ዎች/Human Rights Watch እ.ኤ.አ በ2013 ባቀረበው ዓለም አቀፋዊ ዘገባው የኢትዮጵያንና የሳውዲ አረቢያን የሰብአዊ መብት አያያዝ ሬከርድ በሚመሳሰል መልኩ እንደሚከተለው አቅርቦታል፤ በ2012… የኢትዮጵያ ባለስልጣኖች ሀሳብን በነጻ የመግለጽ፣ የመደራጀትና የመሰብሰብ መሰረታዊ መብቶችን መገደብን በስፋት ቀጥለውበታል፡፡ ሂዩማን ራይትስ ዎች ዘገባውን በመቀጠል በአዲስ አበባ ማዕከላዊ እየተባለ በሚጠራው የፌዴራል ፖሊስ የምርመራ ማዕከል ፣ እንዲሁም በሶማሊ፣ በኦሮሚያ እና በጋምቤላ ክልሎች እስር ቤቶችና በወታደራዊ ማዕከሎች የሚፈጸሙትን የማሰቃየት ድርጊቶች ዝርዝር ዘገባ አቅርቧል፡፡

የሙስሊሙን ህብረተሰብ አመጽ ተከትሎ በኦሮሚያና የአገሪቱ መናገሻ በሆነችው በአዲስ አበባ ከተማ አመጹን ለመግታት በሚል ሰበብ የደህንነት ኃይሎች ሰላማዊ ሰዎችን ከህግ አግባብ ውጭ በቁጥጥር ስር በማዋል፣ እስራትና ድብደባዎችን ፈጽመዋል፡፡ የፌዴራል ፖሊስ ድብደባን ጨምሮ በአገሪቱ ከፍተኛ የእስልምና ጉዳዮች ምክር ቤት ላይ መንግስት ጣልቃ መግባቱን እንዲያቆም የሚጠይቀውን የሙስሊሙን ህብረተሰብ ሰላማዊ ተቃውሞ ለመግታት ሲል መንግስት ከልክ ያለፈ ኃይልን ተጠቅሟል፡፡ የኢትዮጵያ መንግስት መሰረታዊ አገልግሎቶችን ለህብረተሰቡ ለማድረስ በሚል ሰበብ የመንደር ማሰባሰብ ተግባሩን እውን ለማድረግ በአምስት የአገሪቱ ክልሎች 1.5 ሚሊዮን የገጠር ሰፋሪዎችን የማሰባሰብ ስራ ቀጥሏል፡፡ በጋምቤላ ክልል ብዙ ሰፋሪዎች ከሚኖሩበት ቀዬ በኃይል ተፈናቅለው ብዙ መከራ ደርሶባቸዋል… በመንግስት ጥረት የሚከናወን የሸንኮራ አገዳ ልማትን ለማፋጠን ሲባል በኢትዮጵያ የታችኛው ኦሞ ሸለቆ የሚኖሩትን ኗሪ የፓስቶራል ህዝቦች መንግስት በኃይል አፈናቅሏል:: በደቡብ ኦሞ ዞን ወደ 200 ሺ የሚሆኑ የአካባቢው ኗሪ ህዝቦች መሬታቸውን ለሸንኮራ አገዳ ልማት ይፈለጋል በሚል ሰበብ መንግስት መሬታቸውን በመንጠቅ ወደ ሌላ ቦታ እንዲሰደዱ አድርጓል፡፡

ሳውዲ አረቢያን በሚመለከት ሂዩማን ራይትስ ዎች የሚከተለውን ዘገባ አቅርቧል፣ እ.ኤ.አ በ2012 ከህግ አግባብ ውጭ የሚከናወኑትን እስራቶችና ሰላማዊ ተቃዋሚዎችን የማዋከቡ ሁኔታ እየጨመረ በመምጣቱ ዜጎች ሰላማዊ ሰልፍ በማድረጋቸው ምክንያት የሳውዲ አረቢያ መንግስት የኃይል እርምጃን ተጠቅሟል… እንዳለፉት ዓመታት ሁሉ በሺዎች የሚቆጠሩ ዜጎች ፍትሀዊ ያልሆነ ፍርድን ተቀብለዋል፣ ወይም ደግሞ ከህግ አግባብ ውጭ ለእስራት ተዳርገዋል… እስረኞች ህጻናትን ጨምሮ ስልታዊ የህግ የበላይነት ጥሰት እና ፍትሃዊ ህግ የማግኘት መብት የመነፈግ፣ ከህግ አግባብ ውጭ እስራትና ማሰቃየት እንዲሁም ህገወጥ የእስር ቤት አያያዝ ደባ ይፈጸምባቸዋል… ባለስልጣኖች የ9 ሚሊዮን የውጭ ሰራተኞችንና የ9 ሚሊዮን የሳውዲ ሴቶችና ልጃገረዶች መብት ማስከበር አልቻሉም ወይም ጭቆናውን ቀጥለውበታል…

ወደ 1.5 ሚሊዮን የሚሆኑ የአገር ውስጥ ስደተኛ ሰራተኞች ከ2005 የሰራተኞች ህግ ውጭ ተደርገዋል… ባለፉት ዓመታት የኤሲያ ኤምባሲዎች ዘገባ እንደሚያመለክተው ከሀገር ውስጥ ሰራተኞች ቅሬታ እንደሚያሳየው በቀን ከ15 እስከ 20 ሰዓታት፣ በሳምንት ደግሞ 7 ቀናት እንዲሰሩ ከመገደዳቸውም በላይ ደመወዛቸውን ያለመክፈል ሁኔታም ተንጸባርቋል፡፡ የሀገር ውስጥ ሰራተኞች በአብዛኛውም ሴቶች በተደጋጋሚ ጊዜ ተገደው እንዲወልዱ ይደረጋል፣ ምግብ የማግኘት መብታቸውን ያጣሉ፣ እንዲሁም የጾታ ትንኮሳ፣ የአካልና የስነልቦና ጫናዎች ይደረጉባቸዋል፡፡

ሳውዲ አረቢያ ከእስልምና አስተህምሮ ውጭ የሌሎችን እምነቶች አስተምህሮዎችን ለመቀበል ትዕግስቱ የላትም፡፡ ባለፈው መጋቢት ወር ልዩ ልብስ ለባሹ ሸክ በአረቢያ ፔንሱላ የሚገኙ ማናቸውም ቤተክርስቲያኖች በሙሉ እንዲወድሙ ጥሪ አስተላልፎ ነበር…

“የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትር” ቴዎድሮስ አድሃኖም ምን እንዳሉና ያሉትንም እንዳላወቁ፣

በኢትዮጵያ ያለው ገዥው አካል በሳውዲ አረቢያ በሚገኙ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ላይ በአሁኑ ጊዜ እየደረሰ ያለውን አስፈሪ ሁኔታ በማስመልከት የሚሰጠው ምላሽ ጭንቅላትን ይበጠብጣል፡፡ የወባ ትንኝ ተመራማሪውና ከመቅጽበት ወደ ውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትርነት የተቀየሩት ቴዎድሮስ አድሃኖም እንዲሁም እ.ኤ.አ ከ2015 ሀገራዊ ምርጫ በኋላ የጠቅላይ ሚኒስትርነቱን ቦታ ይረከባሉ ተብለው የሚጠበቁት ባለስልጣን ስለሳውዲ አረቢያው የኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ሁኔታ አስመልክቶ በኖቬምበር አጋማሽ በአዲስ አበባ ላይ በተካሄደው በ3ኛው ዓለም አቀፍ የቤተሰብ ዕቅድ ምጣኔ ጉባኤ ላይ ሲናገሩ ግራ ተጋብተዋል፣ እዚህና እዚያ የሚዋዥቅ ንግግርም አሰምተዋል፡፡ ቅንነት የጎደለው እርግጠኝነትና በባዶ ተስፋ የተሞሉ ቃልኪዳኖችን አነብንበዋል፡፡ ወገኖቻችን ወደ ትውልድ አገራቸው እንዲመጡ በደስታ ለመቀበልና ዓለም ቀፋዊ ተብብርን ማጠናከር አስፈላጊ እንደሆነ በየኋህነት/ሞኝነት አገላለጽ አስቀምጠውታል፡፡

እንደምታውቁት፣ ከሳውዲ አረቢያ እንደምታውቁት ኢትዮጵያውያንን ብቻ ቢያግዙም/ቢያባርሩም ቅሉ ሌሎችን ዜጎችም እንዳባረሩ እንረዳለን… ባለፉት አስርት ቀናት እንዳየሁትም፣ ምክንያቱም በቤተሰብ ምጣኔ ዕቅድ እንደምንለው ለልጃገረዶችና ለሴቶች ክብካቤ እናደርጋለን፣ ከጣቢያዎች እርዳታ በመፈለግ ከሚጮሁ ሴቶች በቀጥታ ጥሪዎች ደርሰውኛል… በመቶዎቸ የሚቆጠሩትን በእርግጠኝነት ተቀብለናል፣ በሺዎችና በአስር ሺዎች የሚቆጠሩትን እንቀበላለን ብለን እንጠብቃለን፣ በእርግጠኝነት ለመናገር የምፈልገው ዜጎቻችንን ወደ አገራቸው እንዲመጡ ለመቀበል ሙሉ በሙሉ ዝግጁ ነን፡፡

በጣም አዝኛለሁ፣ ስሜቴም ተጎድቷል፡፡ ለዚህም ነው ይህ ሁኔታ ከተጀመረ ወዲህ ባለው የጊዜ መደበላለቅ ምክንያት ወደዚህ ላለመምጣት ዶ/ር ተከስተን ጠይቄ የነበረው፡፡ ሆኖም ግን በዓለምአቀፋዊነት ትብብር መሰረት ህገወጦችን ማባረር/ከአገር ማስወጣት የምንችል ቢሆንም ይህንን ጉዳይ በሰከነና በሰለጠነ መልክ እናደርገዋለን፣ ምክንያቱም ይህ ድርጊት የጦርነት ሁኔታ አይደለምና፡፡ እንደዚህ ያለው ሁኔታ ተቀባይነት ሊኖረው የሚችለው አገሮች በጦርነት  ላይ ሲሆኑ ብቻ ነው፣ ህዝብም በፈጠነ መልኩ ነገሩን ሊረዳው ይችላል፣ ነገር ግን በሰላማዊ ሁኔታ ሊሆን አይችልም፡፡

…በመሆኑም በዚህ መልክ በመጀመሬ አዝናለሁ፣ ይህ ሁኔታ እስከ አሁን ድረስ እየቆጠቆጠኝ የቆየ ጉዳይ ስለሆነ ነው፡፡

በእርግጥ በኢትዮጵያ ያለውን ሁኔታ የአጭርና የረዥም ጊዜ መፍትሄ በማስቀመጥ ችግሮቹን ለአንዴና ለመጨረሻ ጊዜ ለመፍታት ጥረት ስናደርግ ቆይተናል፣ ምክንያቱም ችግሮቹ ስር የሰደዱና ለአንዴና ለመጨረሻ ጊዜ መወገድ ያለባቸው በመሆናቸው ነው፡፡ እንደምታውቁት ኢትዮጵያ እያደገችና ባለሁለት አሀዝ የኢኮኖሚ እድገት ምጣኔ እያስመዘገበች ነው፣ በዚህም አካሄድ ከጨለማው ዋሻ የውስጥ ጉዞ በኋላ ከጫፍ ላይ ብርሀን ይታየኛል፣ እና ይህንን ያለጥርጥር ተግባራዊ እናደርገዋለን፣ በዚህም ጥረታችን ድህነትን ተረት እናደርጋለን፡፡ በትክክለኛው መንገድ ላይ ነን፣ ሆኖም ግን ዓለም አቀፋዊ ድጋፍ እንደሚያስፈልግ እምነቴ የጸና ነው፡፡ ነገር ግን ይህ ይሳካል ብለን አንጠብቅም፡፡

ነገሩን ለማታውቁት አንድ ነገር ላካፍላችሁ እፈልጋለሁ፡፡ ነብዩ መሀመድ ታላቁን የእስልምና እምነት አስተምህሮቱን ሀ ብሎ ሲጀምር በደረሰበት መሳደድ ምክንያት ደቀመዝሙሮቹን/ተከታዮቹን ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ነበር የላከው… ስለዚህ አዝናለሁ፣ ንግግሬንም እዚህ ላይ አቆማለሁ…ሆኖም ግን የሚሰማኝን ስሜት ሁሉ በዝርዝር በመግለጼ፣ ያለፉት 10 ቀናት በህይወቴ ካየኋቸው ነገሮች ሁሉ እንዴት መራር እንደነበሩና ይከሰታሉ ብለን የማንጠብቃቸው አስገራሚ ነገሮች እየሆኑ በማየቴ እዚህ በመካከላችሁ በመገኘት ለእናንተ ሀሳቤን በማካፈሌ ደስታ ይሰማኛል…::

በአሁኑ ወቅት በኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎች ላይ በሳውዲ አረቢያ መንግስት አየተፈጸመ ያለውን አስደንጋጭ የሰብአዊ መብት ረገጣ ወንጀል በማስመልከት የኢትዮጵያ “ቁንጮ የዲፕሎማት ሰው” እንደዚህ ያለ ተያያዥነት የሌለው፣ የተበታተነ፣ ዝብርቅርቅ ያለ እና እጅ እግር የሌለው ትንታኔ እና ገለጻ ሲያቀርቡ ስሰማ እጅጉን ነው ያዘንኩት፡፡ የውጭ ጉዳይ ፖሊሲ ከወባ ትንኝ ተመራማሪነትና ከመቅጽበት ወደ ውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትርነት በተቀየሩ ግለሰብ የአፍ ካራቴ ዥዋዥዌ ልምምድ መቀለጃ ሆነ! ማንም ሊያደርገው እንደሚችለው የአድሃኖምን ቅጥ አምባሩ የጠፋ ንግግር መሰረት በማድረግ የሚከተሉትን ጭብጦች መመርመር ተገቢ ይሆናል፡፡

1. አድሃኖም እንዲህ አሉ “…በቃላት ሊገለጽ በማይችል መልኩ በኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎች ላይ የሳውዲ አረቢያ መንግስት ያደረሰውን ሰቆቃ ሲያስታውሱ “እስከ አሁን ድረስ ነገሩ እየቆጠቆጣቸው“ እና አሁንም ድረስ “እንዳዘኑ“ እና የሳውዲ አረቢያ መንግስት በኢትዮጵያውያት ሴቶች ላይ በሚፈጽመው ደባ ምክንያት ሰብአዊ መብታቸው እየተረገጠ ያሉ ሴቶች እገዛ ለማግኘት በሚያሰሙት ጩኸት “ስሜታቸው እንደተጎዳ“ ተናግረዋል፡፡ ይኸ “ታላቁ የዘመኑ ውሸት!“ ሊባል ይችላል፡፡

ምናልባትም አድሃኖም በእንግሊዝኛ ቃላት መካከል ያለውን ጥቃቅን ልዩነት ማስተዋል ባለመቻላቸው በተለይም ቀጥተኛ ያልሆነውን የአነጋገር ዘየ/colloquialism ተከትለው ይሆናል በማለት አስተያየት መስጠት ይቻል ይሆናል፡፡ ሆኖም ግን እንደ ቁንጮ የዲፕሎማት ሰውነታቸው ለአላዋቂነት የቃላት አጠቃቀሞቻቸው ይቅርታ ሊደረግላቸው አይገባም (በእርግጥ የቃላት እና የሀረጎች አመራረጣቸው አመለካከታቸውንና ስሜታቸውን የሚገልጹ ቢሆንም)፡፡ በኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ላይ በሳውዲ አረቢያ መንግስት እየተደረገ ያለው ግፍ “እስከ አሁን ድረስ ነገሩ እየቆጠቆጣቸው“ እንደሆነ የሚገልጸው አባባል ተጎጂ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት በሳውዲ አረቢያ ያሉበት ሁኔታ የንዴት ምንጭ እንደሆናቸውና ጥቂት እንዳሳሰባቸውም ጠቋሚ ነው፡፡ ይህ ትልቅ ጉዳይ አይደለም እንደማለት አነጋገር ነው ፡፡ በዓለም ላይ የየትኛውም አገር የዲፕሎማሲ ቁንጮ የሆነ ሰው በዜጎቹ ላይ ኢሰብአዊና ኃላፊነት የጎደለው አያያዝ መደረጉን አስመልከቶ “እስከ አሁን ድረስ ነገሩ እየቆጠቆጠው” መሆኑን ለሌላ አገር ሰው ሲናገር አልተሰማም፣ አልታየምም፡፡

አድሃኖም በውል ያላጤኑት ቢሆንም ቃላት በዓለም አቀፍ የዲፖሎማሲው ቋንቋ ትልቅ ትርጉም አላቸው፣ ቃላት የዲፕሎማቶች ዓላማ ማስፈጸሚያ መሰረታዊ ሀብቶች ናቸው፡፡ የዲፕሎማቲክ ሰዎች እነርሱ በመረጧቸው ቃላትና የቃላት አጠቃቀም ዓለም እንዲቆምና እንዲሄድ የማድረግ ወይም አንዳንድ ጊዜም ሆን ብለው ለትርጉም ልቅ የሆኑ ወይም ደግሞ ውሱን የሆኑ ቃላትን በመጠቀም ዓላማቸውን ለማሳካት የሚሄዱበት ዘዴ ነው፡፡ የዲፕሎማቶች ቃላት ግልጽና ድብቅ ትርጉም ባላቸው መልዕክቶች የተሽሞነሞኑ እና ድብቅ ዓላማን ለማሳካት የተዘየዱ ማስፈጸሚያ መሳሪያዎች ናቸው፡፡ በሰዋስዋዊው የቃላት አመሰራረትና በሚሰጡት ትርጉም ጥንቁቅነት በዲፕሎማሲው ቋንቋ ቃላት ሰላምን ያሰፍናሉ፣ ጦርነትን ያውጃሉ፡፡ ከሁሉም በላይ ደግሞ የዲፕሎማቶች ቃላት የዲፕሎማቶችን ግላዊ የሀዘን ስሜትና የስሜታቸውን መጎዳት ብቻ የሚገልጹ ሳይሆን ከዚህ በተጨማሪ የዲፕሎማቶቹን የሞራል ስብእና፣ የስቅይቱን ጥልቀትና የሀገራቸውን ህዝቦች ስሜት ሊያንጸባርቅ ይገባል፡፡

አድሃኖም በሳውዲ አረቢያ ያሉ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎች ሁኔታ “እስከ አሁን ድረስ ነገሩ እየቆጠቆጣቸው“ እንደሆነ ሲገልጹ ለሳውዲ አረቢያ መንግስት አደገኛ የሆነ መልዕክት ማስተላለፋቸውን ሊገነዘቡ ይገባል፡፡ እንዲህም ብለው እየነገሯቸው ነው፣ አዲሱ የይስሙላው የኢትዮጵያ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ሃይለማርያም ደሳለኝ የዓለም አቀፉን የወንጀለኞች ፍርድ ቤት ለማውገዝ በአፍሪካ ህብረት የመሰብሰቢያ አዳራሽ ተገኝተው የተናገሩትን በመዋስ “የዘር አደን“ በኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ስደተኛ ሰራተኛ ዜጎች ላይ በሳውዲ አረቢያ ፖሊሶችና ጋጠወጦች በየመንገዱ እየተደረገ ያለውን ሁከትና ትርምስ አሳሳቢ ያደርገዋል፡፡ ተገቢ የዲፕሎማሲ ንግግር ከተደረገ ይህንን አደገኛ ሁኔታ  እንዲቀንስ ያደርገዋል፡፡

በአሁኑ ወቅት በሳውዲ አረቢያ እየተካሄደ ያለው ኢትዮጵያውያንን/ትን የማዋረድና ኢሰብአዊ የሆነ ድርጊት የመፈጸም ሁኔታ ትልቅና በጣም ትልቅ የሆነ አገራዊ ጉዳይ ነው፡፡ በግሌ ለምሳሌ በዋና የስራ ሰዓት ጊዜ የሚይዝ የትራፊክ መኪና መጨናነቅ የንዴት ደረጃየን ከፍ ያደርገዋል፣ የተሰጣቸውን የቤት ስራ ሳይሰሩ በሚመጡ ተማሪዎቼ ላይ የሚኖረኝ ንዴት ከልኩ ያለፈ ነው:: ሳውዲዎች በኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ላይ እየፈጸሙት ያለው ግፍ ግን እንድናደድ ብቻ አላደረገኝም፣ ደሜ እንዲፈላ ጭምር አደረገኝ እንጅ፡፡ የሳውዲ አረቢያ ፖሊሶች በኢትዮጵየውያን/ት ላይ ሲፈጽሙት የነበረውን አረመኒያዊና ኢሰብአዊ የሆነ ድርጊት ስመለከት እሳት ነበልባል ሆኛለሁ፡፡ የሳውዲ አረቢያ ወሮበሎችና ጋጠወጦች በኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎች ላይ ሲፈጽሙት የነበረውን አረመኒያዊና ጭካኔ የተሞላበት የሰብአዊ መብት ረገጣ ስመለከት በንዴት ድብን ብዬ አራሴን አስከ መሳት ደርሼ ነበር፡፡ በኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ስደተኛ ሰራተኞች ላይ በሳውዲ አረቢያ ወሮብሎችና ጋጠወጦች እየተደረገ ያለውን ኢሰብአዊና ከህግ አግባብ ውጭ እየተደረገ ያለውን ጀብደኝነት የሳውዲ ገዥው አካል እያየ ጆሮዳባ ማለቱ የበለጠ እንድበሳጭና እራሴን እንድስት አድርጎኛል፡፡ የሳውዲ መንግስት ዓለም አቀፍ ሕግን በጠበቀ መልኩ በኢትዮጵያውያን ስደተኛ ሰራተኛ ዜጎች መብት አያያዝ ላይ ምንም ነገር ባለማድረጉ በጣም ተበሳጭቻለሁ፣ አማርሪያለሁም፡፡ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት በሳውዲ አረቢያ እየተፈጸመባቸው ያለው ግፍና መከራ አድሃኖምን ብዙም ያሳሰባቸውና ያስጨነቃቸው አይመስልም፡፡

በዓለም አቀፋዊ የዲፕሎማሲ ቋንቋ መርህ መሰረት ጠንካራና ፊትለፊት በመግጠም የሚደረግ እና አስታራቂና ዲፕሎማሲያዊ በሆነ ለስለስ ባለ ቋንቋ ለመጠቀም የራሱ ጊዜ አለው፡፡ በእውነቱ ይህ ታላቅ ሀገራዊ ውድቀት ነው፣ አድሃኖም በሁለቱ መካከል ያለውን ልዩነት በውል የተገነዘቡት አይመስለኝም፡፡

2. ሳውዲ አረቢያዎች በኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ላይ እንዲህ በፈጣን መልኩ እየፈጸሙ ያሉት ከአገር የማባረርና የማስወጣት ሁኔታ “አንድ አገር በጦርነት በወደቀችበት ጊዜ የተደረገ ቢሆን ኖር ተቀባይነት ሊኖረው ህዝብም ሊረዳው ይችል ነበር” ብለዋል አድሃኖም፡፡ ከዚህ አንጻር አድሃኖም ያልተገነዘቧቸው በርካታ ዓለም አቀፍ ስምምነቶች፣ በጣም መሰረታዊ የሆኑ መርሆዎችና ህጎች መኖራቸውን ያሳያል፡፡ ከጦርነት ጋር በተያያዘ መልኩ ዜጎችን ከሀገር የማባረሩ ሁኔታን አስመልክቶ ያሉትን ህጎችና ልምዶች አንዳንድ ጊዜም የዘር ማጽዳት ድርጊቶች እንደሚፈጸሙ አድሃኖም የተገነዘቡ አለመሆኑን ይህ ሁኔታ በግልጽ ያመላክታል፡፡ እ.ኤ.አ 1990ዎቹ የመጀመሪያዎቹ ዓመታት ገደማ በሄርዞጎቪና እና ቦሲኒያ መካከል በተደረገው ጦርነት በርካታ የቦሲኒያ እስልምና እምነት ተከታዮች፣ ክሮሽያዎች፣ ሰርቦችና ቦሲኒያዎች ከትውልድ ቦታቸው የተቀነባበረ የማባረር/የማስወጣት ስልት በመጠቀም ተግባራዊ ተደርጎባቸዋል፡፡ ያ የጦር ወንጀለኝነት ነው፡፡ ይኸ እንዲሁ “ህዝብ በቀላሉ ሊረዳው የሚችል” ጉዳይ አይደለም አድሃኖም አንዳሉት፡፡ በጦርነት ጊዜ በኃይልና በማስገድደ ከአገር የማስወጣት አስፈላጊነት ለህዝቡ ደህንነት ሲባል በሚጠበቁ ሰዎች ወይም በጦር መሪዎች ላይ የሚፈጸም መሆኑን በተባበሩት መንግስታት ድርጅት በ1949 የጸደቀው ስምምነት (IV) በጦርነት ጊዜ የሲቪል ሰዎችን ለመከላከል የተዘጋጀው ሰነድ በግልጽ ያሳያል፡፡ የስደተኞችን ጉዳይ አስመልክቶ በ1951 ስምምነት መሰረት በ1967 የስደተኞችን ሁኔታ አስመልክቶ የተዘጋጀው ፕሮቶከል እንዲሁም በአንቀጽ 3 በ1984 ማሰቃየትን በተመለከተ የተዘጋጀውን ስምምነት መሰረት በማድረግ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ስደተኞች ከማንኛውም ህገወጥ ማባረር/ማስወጣት ድርጊት መጠበቅ እንዳለባቸው በግልጽ ያሳያሉ፡፡ በጣም መሰረታዊ በሚባሉ የዓለም አቀፍ ህጎች፣ ደንቦችና መርሆዎች አንጻር አድሃኖም ያላቸው ግንዛቤ ሲመዘን በጣም አናሳ ሆኖ መገኘቱን ስናጤን እንደ ሀገር አሳሳቢ ሀገራዊ ኪሳራ መሆኑን ያሳያል፡፡

3. በአሁኑ ጊዜ በሳውዲ አረቢያ በሚገኙ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ላይ ለሚፈጸመው ሰቆቃና አንገብጋቢ ችግር መፍትሄው ዜጎቹ ከዚያ ሀገር የሚወጡበትን ስራ ማፋጠን እንደሆነ አድሃኖም ያላቸውን እምነት ገልጸዋል፡፡ በአሁኑ ጊዜ በሳውዲ አረቢያ በኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ስደተኞች ላይ የሚፈጸመውን የኃይል እርምጃ፣ አስገድዶ መድፈር፣ ግድያና ማሰቃየት ማስቆም ጊዜ የማይሰጠው አጣዳፊ፣ ወሳኝ፣ አንገብጋቢ እና ክብደት ሊሰጠው የሚገባ ጉዳይ ነው፡፡ በእርግጥ አድሃኖም ይህንን ጉዳይ በሚመለከት እንደሚከተለው አስረግጠው ተናግረዋል፡፡ “በእርግጥ ችግሩን ለአንዴና ለመጨረሻ ጊዜ ለመፍታት የረዥምና የአጭር ጊዜ መፍትሄዎችን በመንደፍ ጥረት ስናደርግ ቆይተናል፣ ምክንያቱም እነዚህ ችግሮች ለብዙ ጊዜ የቆዩና ስር የሰደዱ በመሆናቸው ነው“ በማለት አስተያየታቸውን ቋጭተዋል፡፡ እርግጥ ነው የረዥምና የአጭር ጊዜ መፍትሄዎች ሊቆዩ ወይም ጊዜ ሊወስዱ ይችላሉ፡፡ ነገር ግን በሳውዲ አረቢያ ፖሊሶች፣ ወሮበሎች እና ህገወጦች በየዕለቱ እየተፈጸሙ ያሉ የውርደት ሰራዎች፣ ህገወጥ አያያዞች፣ ፍትህአልባነት እና ወንጀሎች በእንዲህ ያለ ሁኔታ ሊቆዩ በፍፁም አይችሉም፡፡ በአሁኑ ጊዜ በሳውዲ አረቢያ በሚኖሩ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ላይ እየተፈጸመ ያለው መጠነሰፊ ኪሳራ ነው፡፡ ስቅይቱን በፍጥነት ለማስቆም አድሃኖም ምንም ዓይነት ሀሳብ የሌላቸው እና መፍትሄዎችን ያላመላከቱ በመሆኑ ይህ አንገብጋቢ አገራዊ ኪሳራ ነው፡፡

አድሃኖም እንዲህ ይላሉ፣ በሳውዲ አረቢያ በሚኖሩ ትዮጵያውያን/ት ስደተኞች ላይ “እንዲህ ያለ ድርጊት ይፈጸማል ብለን በምንም ታምር አልጠበቅንም“፣ እንዲህም ይላሉ ለእራሳቸው፣ “ሁሉም ነገር የሚያስደንቅ ነው“፣ በመቀጠልም እንዲህ ይላሉ፣ “የረዥምና የአጭር ጊዜ መፍትሄዎችን ለማምጣት ለብዙ ጊዜ ጥረት አድርገናል“፡፡ ይህ የተምታታ እና የተዘበራረቀ አባባል እርስ በእራሱ የሚጣረስ ብቻ አይደለም፣  ሊታመን በማይችል መልኩ አሳሳች መግለጫ እና የአድሃኖምን የዋህነትና የዲፕሎማሲ  እውቀት እጥረትና ችሎታ ማጣት የሚያሳይ መገለጫ እንጅ፣ በሳውዲ አረቢያ የኢትዮያውያንን/ትን ሁኔታ በሚመለከት “ሁሉም ነገር የሚያስደንቅ ነው“ የሚለው የአድሃኖም አባባል ተቀባይነት የሌለው ነገር ነው፡፡ ምክንያቱም እ.ኤ.አ በኤፕሪል 2013 አድሃኖምና የእርሳቸው ገዥው አካል  የሳውዲ አረቢያ ገዥ በሀገሩ ውስጥ በህገወጥ መንገድ ገብተው ምንም ዓይነት ህጋዊ ሰነድ ሳይኖራቸው በሀገሩ የግዛት ክልል ውስጥ የሚገኙ የውጭ አገር ሰራተኞችን ህጋዊ ለማድረግ ወይም ደግሞ ወደየመጡባቸው አገሮች እንዲመለሱ እና ህገወጥ ማባረር፣ እስራትና ስቅይትን ለማስቀረት በማለት ያስተላለፈውን ትዕዛዝ በሚገባ ያውቃሉ፡፡ የአድሃኖም ገዥው አካልም በተመሳሳይ መልኩ በሳውዲ አረቢያ ውስጥ ምንም ዓይነት ህጋዊነት  ሳይኖራቸው የሚሰሩና የሚኖሩ በርካታ ህገወጥ ስደተኛ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት እንዳሉ ከማመናቸውም በላይ አሳምረው ያውቃሉ፡፡ ከዚህ በተጨማሪም የሳውዲ ገዥ እ.ኤ.አ በጁላይ 2013 በሀገሩ ውስጥ የሚገኙትን ሕጋዊ የመኖሪያ ፈቃድ ሳይኖራቸውና ምንም ሰነድ የሌላቸውን የውጭ አገር ዜጎች በማስመልከት ህጋዊ እንዲሆኑ ወይም ሀገር ለቀው እንዲወጡ አጽንኦ በመስጠት እ.ኤ.አ እስከ ኖቬምበር 2013 ድረስ ቀነ ገደብ መስጠቱን አድሃኖምና ገዥው አካላቸው በሚገባ ያውቁታል፡፡ ግና የአድሃኖም ገዥ አካል ከመስማት ባለፈ የአዋጁን እንደምታና ወደፊት በስደተኛ ዜጎቹ ላይ ሊያስከትል የሚችለውን በአዎንታዊም ሆነ በአሉታዊ ጉኑ ሊያየው ስላልፈለገ የወደፊቱን ማቀድም አልቻለም፣ በቀጣይነት በገፍ ወደ ሳውዲ አረቢያ በሚጓዙ ዜጎች ላይ እንዲሁም በሳውዲ አረቢያ ፖሊስና ወሮበሎች በቀጣይነት ስለሚደረገው ጥቃት የሚሉት ነገር አልነበራቸውም፡፡ በአጭሩ ምንም ነገር ሳያደርጉ እጃቸውን አጣጥፈው በመቀመጥ ሲመለከቱ በከንቱ ሳይጠቀሙበት ጊዚያቸውን አባክነዋል፡፡ ይህ በእንዲህ እንዳለ እ.ኤ.አ በኖቬምበር 2013 በሳውዲ አረቢያ በሚኖሩ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ስደተኛ ዜጎች ላይ ማህበራዊ ቀውስ ይደርሳል የሚለውን ሁኔታ እንዴት አድሃኖም በእርግጠኝነት መተንበይ አልቻሉም ይቻላል?

አድሃኖም ፈጣን የፖሊሲ እርምጃ ለመውሰድ ብቃት የሌላቸው ሰው መሆናቸውን የድርጊቶች ኩነት በተጨባጭ ያሳያል፡፡ እንደ “ቁንጮ የዲፕሎማሲ ሰው” ብዙ መማር ይጠበቅባቸዋል፣ እንዲሁም ወደፊት ሊከሰቱ በሚችሉ ነገሮች ላይ ትኩረት በመስጠት የነገሮችን የአመጣጥ ሁኔታና ችግሮችን አስቀድሞ በማየት ተጨባጭ መፍትሄ ለማምጣትና ወደተግባር ለመፈጸም የሚያስችል ብቃትን ሊጎናጸፉ ይገባል፡፡ ፈላስፋው ጎቴ የሚከተለውን ሲል እውነትም ትክክል ነበር፣ “ምንም  ድንቁርናን በተግባር ከማየት የበለጠ አስደንጋጭ ነገር የለም ብሏል።

አድሃኖም ያልተናገሩት ወይም ያላደረጉት፤

በሳውዲ አረቢያ በሚኖሩ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎች ላይ እየተፈጸመ ያለውን የኃይል እርምጃ ለማስቆም የኢትዮጵያ ገዥው አካል ስላደረገው ሁኔታ አድሃኖም አንድም ያሉት ነገር የለም፣ ሆኖም ግን አገዛዙ ይህንን ጉዳይ አስመልክቶ ዘለቄታዊ መፍትሄ ለመስጠት የረዥም እና የአጭር ጊዜ መፍትሄዎችን ለማምጣት ብዙ ርቀት የተጓዘ መሆኑን ከመግለጽ ውጭ ተጨባጭነት ያለው እርምጃ አልታየም፡፡ በተጨባጭ እየሆነ ያለው ግን አድሃኖም እና ገዥው አካላቸው አትዮጵያውያን/ት ስደተኛ ዜጎቻቸው በሳውዲ አረቢያ መንገዶች እንደ አውሬ እየታደኑ ኢሰብአዊ ድርጊት ሲፈጸምባቸው ከዳር ቆመው ጣቶቻቸውን በመቀሰር፣ ጭንቅላቶቻቸውን በመነቅነቅ ከመታዘብ ውጭ ሌላ መገለጫ የለውም፡፡ አድሃኖም በዜጎቻችን ላይ እየተፈጸመ ያለውን የኃይል እርምጃ ለማስቆም ምንም  ጥረት አለማድረጋቸው ብቻ ሳይሆን ትንሿን ነገር ለዓም አቀፉ ማህብረሰብ በማሳወቅ በሳወዲ አረቢያ መንግስት ላይ ጫና እንዲደረግ እንኳን ሙከራ አላደረጉም፡፡ አድሃኖም ካልተናገሯቸው ወይም ካልፈጸሟቸው ጉዳዮች ውስጥ ከብዙ በጥቂቱ እንደሚከተለው ቀርበዋል፡፡

በጠንካራ ቃላት የተዘጋጀ የውግዘት መግለጫ፤ አድሃኖም እንዲህ ብለዋል፣ “ገዥው አካል የሳውዲ አረቢያ መንግስት በግዛት ክልሉ ውስጥ ባሉ ስደተኛ ሰራተኛ ዜጎቻችን ላይ ያደረሰውን ጭካኔ የተሞላበት የኃይል እርምጃ እናወግዛለን፣ ይህ በምንም ዓይነት መልኩ ተቀባይነት የለውም፣ የሳውዲ መንግስት ለጉዳዩ አጽንኦ በመስጠት ምርመራ እንዲደረግ ጥሪ እናደርጋለን፣ ዜጎቻችን ባሉበት በክብርና በመልካም ሁኔታ እንዲያዙ ሆኖ ዜጎቻችንን ወደ ሀገራቸው የምንወስድ መሆኑን እናሳውቃለን“ የሚል ነበር፡፡ “ተቀባይነት የለውም“ የሚለው ቋንቋ በሳውዲ አረቢያ ገዥ አካል፣ በፖሊስ ኃይሉ እና በወሮበሎች እየተፈጸመ ያለውን ዘገናኝ ጭካኔ፣ ለመናገር የሚዘገንን አረመኔነት፣ አስደንጋጭ ስቅይትና ወንጀለኝነት ለመግለጽ የሚጠቀሙበት የውግዘት ቃል ነው፡፡ እንደ አድሃኖም ግንዛቤ “ምርመራ“ ማለት የሳውዲ ገዥ ክፍል ከዚህ ከተፈጸመው ዘግናኝ ወንጀል አንጻር ጠንካራ እርምጃ ተወስዶ ማየት ነው፡፡

አድሃኖም “ተቀባይነት የለውም“ የሚለውን ቋንቋ በውል የተገነዘቡት አይመስልም፡፡ ይህ አባባል በዲፕሎማሲያዊ ቋንቋ የዲፕሎማሲ ሰዎች ምንም ነገር ሳይሉ አንድ ነገር እንዳሉ በማስመሰል የሚጠቀሙበት ባዶና መሰረት የለሽ ቃል ነው፡፡ ሁሉንም ነገር የሚል ትርጉም የያዘ ቃልም ነው…”ምንም ዓይነት ጠንቅ የለዉም አይኖረዉም ማለትም  ነው”:: እንደዚህ ነው እንግዲህ የዲፕሎማሲያዊ ቋንቋ  ባህሪያት፡፡ አንድ መስመር ዓረፍተ ነገር ሁለት የማይገናኙ ዓላማዎችን ሊያስተላልፍ የሚችል መልዕክት ሊኖረው ይችላል፡፡ በሳውዲ አረቢያ በሚኖሩ አትዮጵያውያን/ት ላይ እየተፈጸመ ያለው ድርጊት “ተቀባይነት የለውም” የሚል መልዕክት ለሳውዲ አረቢያ አምባሳደር በማስተላለፍ አድሃኖም በጉዳዩ ላይ የይስሙላ ስራን በመስራት ጉዳዩ አስኪረጋጋ ድረስ መጠቀሚያ ያደርጉታል፣ ከዚያ በኋላ ግን ሁሉቱም ወገኖች ወደነበሩበት ግንኙነት ተመልሰው የመሞዳሞ ስራቸውን ይቀጥላሉ፡፡ ቃሉን በትክክል ለመግለጽ “ተቀባይነት የለውም” የሚለው ቃል ብልህነት የጎዳላቸው ፉከራና ባዶ ኳኳታ በሚያሰሙ ምንም ነገር እና አንድም ነገር የማያደርጉ ሰዎች መገለጫ ነው፡፡

የጥገኛውን ሀገር አምባሳደር በመክሰስ የብጥብጡን ሁኔታ እንዲረዳና በፖሊስና በህገወጦች የሚፈጸመውን ህገወጥ ድርጊት በአስቸኳይ እንዲያስቆም ማድረግ፡ አድሃኖም የሳውዲ አረቢያ አምባሳደርን በመክሰስ እንዲህ ብለዋቸዋል፣ “የሳውዲ አረቢያ መንግስት ህገወጥ ስደተኞችን ለማስወጣት የተከተለውን መርህና የሳውዲ አረቢያ ባለስልጣኖች በህገወጥ ስደተኞች ላይ የወሰዷቸውን እርምጃዎች በተመለከተ ኢትዮጵያ ታላቅ አክብሮት አላት፡፡ እንዲሁም በሳውዲ አረቢያ በሚኖሩ ዜጎቻችን ላይ የተወሰደውን ህገወጥ አያያዝና ግድያ ታወግዛለች“ ይላል፡፡ ግን ሰው  ምን ዓይነት አሽከርነትና ጫማ ላሽነት ውሰጥ ይዘፈቃል?! ለዜጎቹ የሚቆረቆር በምድር ላይ የሚኖር ማንም አገር ቢሆን የራሱን ዜጎች የስቃይ ሰለባ ላደረገ ሌላ አገር በምንም ዓይነት መልኩ ቢሆን “ክብር አለው” የሚል ቃል አይተነፍስም፡፡ አድሃኖም በጉዳዩ ላይ ጥልቅ ግንዛቤ ያላቸው አይመስልም፣ ምክንቱም ጉዳዩ ስለሳውዲ አረቢያ የግዛት ሉዓላዊነት ወይም ስለስደተኞች ፖሊሲ ጉዳይ አይደለም፣ ጉዳዩ የሳውዲ አረቢያ ገዥ አካል በኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ስደተኛ ሰራተኛ ዜጎች ላይ እየፈጸመ ስላለው የሰብአዊ መብት ረገጣ ተገቢውን እርምጃ የመውሰድና ያለመውሰድ ጉዳይ ነው፡፡

ከዚህም በላይ አደሃኖምም ሆነ ወይም ሚኒስቴር መስሪያ ቤታቸው ከሳውዲ አረቢያ የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር ጋር የሚኖርን ተቃውሞ በይፋ ለህዝብ አላሳወቁም፡፡ “የተቃውሞ ደብዳቤ” ወይም “የዲፕሎማቲክ ማስታወሻ” የአንድ መንግስት የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር ለሌላው ጥፋት ለፈጸመው መንግስት ይቅርታ የማይደረግለትን የማይናወጥ አቋም በመግለጽ በይፋ ያሳውቃል፡፡ የተቃውሞ ደብዳቤው በምንም ዓይነት መልኩ ቢሆን “ተቀባይነት የለውም” የሚል ቃል አይጠቀምም፡፡ በጥቂቱም ቢሆን ስለ “”አሳሳቢ ጉዳዮች” እና ነገሮች መሻሻል ካላሳዩ ወደፊት “ጉዳት ሊያመጡ” የሚችሉ ጉዳዮችን በመጥቀስ ሊያሳውቅ ይችላል፡፡ አድሃኖም እንዳደረጉት እንቁጠረውና የተቃውሞ ደብዳቤ ለሳውዲ አረቢያ የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር የጻፉ መሆኑን ለህዝብ ይፋ ሊያደርጉ ይገባል፡፡

በሳውዲ አረቢያ በሚኖሩ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎች ላይ የተፈጸመውን የሰብአዊ መብት ረገጣ በሚመለከት የአፍሪካ ህብረት የውግዘት መግለጫ እንዲያወጣ ማድረግ፤ እ.ኤ.አ በ2015 አስከሚደረገው አገር አቀፍ ምርጫ ድረስ የአድሃኖምን ወንበር እያሟሟቁ የሚገኙት የይስሙላው የኢትዮጵያ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ኃይለማርያ ደሳለኝ የወቅቱ የአፍሪካ ህብረት የዝውውር ሊቀመንበር ናቸው፡፡ ኃይለማርያም ደሳለኝ የተባበሩት መንግስታት የዓለም አቀፉ የወንጀለኞች ፍርድ ቤት በአፍሪካ መሪዎች ላይ የዘር አደን ይፈጽማል በማለት የዘር አደናውን ለማስቆም የአፍሪካ መሪዎችን በማሰባሰብና በማስተባበር ቆላ ደጋ በማለት ጥረት ሲያደርጉ የቆዩ እና እንዲያውም የህብረቱ አባል አገራት የሮማ ስምምነተን በመጣስ ከአይሲሲ አባልነት እንዲወጡ በመሃንዲስነት ጥረት ሲያደርጉ መቆየታቸወ የሚታወስ ነው፡፡ ነገር ግን በመቶዎችና በሺዎች የሚቆጠሩ የአገራቸው ዜጎች በሳውዲ አረቢያ መንገዶች በፖሊሶች፣ በወሮበሎችና በህገወጦች “የዘር አደና” ጥቃት ሲፈጸምባቸው ትንፍሽ አላሉም፣ የጎመንዘር ቅንጣት የምታክል ድርጊት አልፈጸሙም፡፡(በነገራችን ላይ ይህ ሁሉ ስቃይ በኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ዜጎች ላይ ሲፈጸም የይስሙላው ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ኃይለማርያም ደሳለኝ በአገር ውስጥ ነበሩን? ኢትዮጵያውያን በሳውዲ አረቢያ “የዘር አደን” እየተፈጸመባቸው መሆኑን አስመልክቶ ቃል ትንፍሽ ሲሉ የሰማ ይኖራልን?)

አስቸኳይ ምርመር እንዲካሄድ ለተባበሩት መንግስታት የስደተኞች ጉዳይ ከፍተኛ ኮሚሽን (UNHCR) ኮሚሽነር ማሳወቅ፣ ዩኤንኤችሲአር/UNHCR በተባበሩት መንግስታት በተሰጠው ኃላፊነት መሰረት “ዓለም አቀፍ የስደተኞችን ጥበቃ ማድረግና በስደተኞች ችግር ላይ ውሳኔ የመስጠት እንዲሁም ስደተኞችን የመምራትና የማስተባበር ስራ” ያከናውናል፡፡ ስደተኞች አግባብ ባልሆነ መልክ ሲያዙና የሰብአዊ መብት ጥሰት ካለ የመመርመር ስልጣን ተሰጥቶታል፡፡ አድሃኖም UNHCR ጉዳዩን እንዲመረምረው መጠየቃቸውን የገለጹበት ሁኔታ የለም፡፡ ምናልባትም ጥያቄ አቅርበው ከሆነ መጠየቃቸውን የሚገልጽ መረጃ አልቀረበም፡፡

እንዲህም ሆኖ UNHCR ስደተኛ ሰራተኞችን ግጭት ከተከሰተበት ቦታ ወደ ሌላ ለማዘዋወር የሎጅሰቲክስ እርዳታ ብቃት አለው፡፡ ለምሳሌ ያህል እ.ኤ.አ በ2011 በሊቢያ ጸረ መንግስት አመጽ በተቀሰቀሰ ጊዜ UNHCR በአስር ሺዎች የሚቆጠሩ ስደተኛ ሰራተኞችን ከሊቢያ ወደ ጎረቤት አገሮች በማመላለስ የተቀላጠፈ ስራ ሰርቷል፡፡

ጉዳዩ በተባበሩት መንግስታት የስደተኞች ጉዳይ ከፍተኛ ኮሚሽን ኮሚሽነር/UNHCR እና በተባበሩት መንግስታት የሰብአዊ መብቶች ኮሚሽን ኮሚሽነር ጽ/ቤት/OHCHR ቀርቦ እንዲጣራ ቅሬታን ማስመዝገብ፤ ከOHCHR ዋና ዋና ተግባራት መካከል “የከፋ የሰብአዊ መብት ጥሰቶችን ማጣራት” እና “የሰብአዊ መብት ጥበቃ ስራዎችን ማከናወን” ናቸው፡፡ የማጣራት ስራውን እንዲሰራ የሳውዲ ገዥ አካልን ከመጠየቅ ይልቅ አድሃኖም እንዲያጣሩትና ጣልቃ እንዲገቡ UNHCR እና OHCHRን መጠየቅ ነበረባቸው፡፡

የኢትዮጵያ ዜጎች ከሳውዲ አረቢያ ኤምባሲ ፊት ለፊት ሰላማዊ የተቃውሞ ሰልፍ እንዲያደርጉ መፍቀድ፤

ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት በሳውዲ አረቢያ በሚኖሩ ወንድሞቻቸውና እህቶቻቸው ላይ በተፈጸሙባቸው እና እየተፈጸሙባቸው ባሉት የሰብአዊ መብት ረገጣዎች ምክንያት ተዋርደዋል፣ ሀፍረትም ደርሶባቸዋል፡፡ አድሃኖም በኢትዮጵያ ጥገኝነት እንዲጠይቁ ነብዩ መሀመድ ተከታዮቹን ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ልኮ እንደነበር ተናግረዋል፡፡ ኢትዮጵያ በአንድ ወቅት ጥገኘነት የሚጠየቅባት ምቾትና እርዳታ የሚደረግባት ቅዱስ ቦታ ነበረች፡፡ ኒልሰን ማንዴላና ሌሎች የአፍሪካ ናሽናል ኮንግረስ ፓርቲ አመራሮች እ.ኤ.አ በ1962 ስልጠና ለመውሰድ ወደ ኢትዮጵያ መጥተው ነበር፡፡ በአጼ ኃይለ ስላሴ ልዩ ትዕዛዝ መሰረት ኒልሰን ማንዴላ የኢትዮጵያ ፓስፖርት እንዲሰጣቸው ተደርጎ ያለምንም ችግር ዓለምን ሲዞሩ ነበር፡፡ በአንድ ወቅት ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት በዓለም ላይ የሚከበሩና የሚሞገሱ ነበሩ፡፡ በአሁኑ ጊዜ ደካሞችና በባርነት የሚገዙ ሆነዋል፡፡ ያሰቡትን በመናገራቸው ይደበደባሉ፣ ይታሰራሉ፡፡ አዲስ አበባ በሚገኘው የሳውዲ አረቢያ አምባሳደር ፊት ለፊት በመገኘት ተቃውሟቸውን በሰላማዊ መንገድ ለማሰማት ሲሞክሩ የሳውዲ አረቢያ ፖሊስ በሀገሩ ኢትዮጵያውያንን/ትን ባስተናገደበት መጥፎ አያያዝ ሞዴልነት በተመሳሳይ መልኩም በአዲስ አበባ እንዲደረግ ሆኗል፡፡ ተዋርደዋል፣ ርህራሄ በጎደለው መልኩ ተደብድበዋል፣ በቁጥጥር ስርም ውለዋል፡፡ የገዥው አካል አፈቀላጤ የሆነው ሽመልስ ከማል ገዥው አካል በሰላማዊ የተቃውሞ ሰልፈኞች ላይ እርምጃ መውሰድ ይገባዋል ብሏል፣ ምክንያቱም ይላል፣ “አብዛኞቹ ሰላማዊ ሰልፍ አድራጊዎች በኢትዮጵያና በሳውዲ አረቢያ መካከል ጸንቶ የቆየውን ጠንካራ ግንኙነት የሚያበላሽና ጸረ አረብ የሆኑ መልዕክቶችን የያዙ በመሀናቸው ነው::

“ማንም ቢሆን ከሚቀርበው ጓደኛው ጋር የመስታወት ላይ ጠብ ያደርጋል የሚል ግምት የለኝም፡፡ አድሃኖምና ገዥው አካል እንዲያስታውሱት የምፈልገው ነገር…”ለመበሳጨት ዘገምተኛ የሆነውን እሱን ተጠንቀቁ፣ ለመምጣት ለምን ያህል ጊዜ እንደሚቆይ፣ ከመጣ ደግሞ ኃይለኛው እርሱ እንደሆነ እና ለብዙ ጊዜ የሚቆይ ነው፡፡ የተዋረደ ትዕግስተኝነት ወደ ቁጣ ይቀየራል::”

የአጣዳፊ ሁኔታውን ለመስራት ልዩ ግብረ ኃይል አያስፈልግምን? ኢትዮጵያ በሳውዲ አረቢያው እንደደረሰባት ዓይነት ኪሳራ በሚደርስባት ጊዜ ለዜጎቹ የሚያስብ ገዥ አካል ተገቢውን ምላሽ ለመስጠትና ለማስተባበር የአስቸኳይ ጊዜ ማስፈጸሚያ ግብረ ኃይል ያቋቁማል፡፡ የሲቪል ማህበረሰብ ቡድኖች ተመላሽ ስደተኛ ወገናቸውን ለማገዝ  እንቅስቃሴ ያደርጋሉ፡፡ ዓለም አቀፍ የሰብአዊ መብት ድርጅቶች እገዛ እንዲያደርጉ ይጠየቃሉ፡፡ አነዚህ አልተደረጉም:: በሳውዲ አረቢያ ያለው የኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ሁኔታ በአጭር ጊዜ ውስጥ ያልፋል፣ ስለዚህም ብዙ ሚሊዮን ሄክታር መሬት ለሳውዲ አረቢያ ኢንቨስተሮች በመስጠት የተለመደው ቢዝነስ በተለመደው ሁኔታ ይቀጥላል የሚል ስሌት በአድሃኖምና በገዥው አካል አቅዋም የተያዘ መሆኑም ይገልጣል፡፡

አድሃኖም ወደፊት አንደሚሉ ፤

አድሃኖምና ገዥው አካል ከሳውዲ አረቢያ ወደ ሀገራቸው ለሚመለሱትና ለሚቋቋሙበት የተመደበውን 50 ሚሊዮን ብር ተመድቧል ብለዋል:: ይህ ከባልዲ ውኃ አንዷ ጠብታ ናት፡፡ ይህም ገንዘብ ወደ 2 ሚሊዮን የአሜሪካ ዶላር ይሆናል፡፡ በዚህች በጣም ትንሽ በሆነች 2 ሚሊዮን ዶላር 200 ሺ ወይም ከዚያ በላይ የሚሆኑ ከስደት ተመላሾችን ለማስፈር፣ ለማዘዋወርና ለማጓጓዝ የሚያስችል አይደለም፡፡ ከዚህም በተጨማሪ ገዥው አካል ይህን ያህል ገንዘብ ለእነዚህ ተግባራት ተብሎ የተያዘ ለመሆኑ ማረጋገጫ የለም፡፡ እ.ኤ.አ ጁላይ 2013 የዓለም አቀፍ የገንዘብ ድርጅት ባለሙያዎች ተልዕኮ መግለጫ መሰረት ኢትዮጵያ ከውጭ ወደ ሀገር ውስጥ ለምታስገባቸው ሸቀጦችና አገልግሎቶች ለሶስት ወራት ብቻ ሊያቆይ የሚያስችል የውጭ ምንዛሬ ክምችት እንዳላት ይፋ አድርጓል፡፡

አድሃኖምና ገዥው አካል ብዙም ሳይቆዩ ተመላሽ ዜጎቸን ለማጓጓዝና ለማቋቋም የልመና ኮሮጃቸዉን አንጠልጥለው ወደ ዓለም አቀፉ የመንገድ ልመና መውጣቸው የማይቀር ጉዳይ ነው፡፡ በእርግጥ የሚገኘውን እርዳታ ለመቀራመት የሚችሉ የራሳቸውን አትራፊ ያልሆኑ ድርጅቶችን አስቀድመው ያቋቁማሉ፡፡ አድሃኖም ይለምናሉ፣ እንዲህ በማለት፣ “ከሳውዲ አረቢያ ለሚመለሱ ስደተኛ ዜጎች ገንዘብ በጣም ብዙ ገንዘብ እንፈልጋለን፡፡“ ጋሻጃግሪዎቻቸው በህዳሴው ግድብ ወይም በሌላ መልክ እንደሚጠሩት እንዳደረጉት ሁሉ በዓለም ዙሪያ በመሰማራት ኑስ ሳንቲም ሳይቀር ልመናቸውን ያጧጡፋሉ፡፡ ለገዥው አካል መንግስታዊ ያልሆኑ ድርጀቶች ይህ ሁኔታ ንፋስ አመጣሽ ዘረፋ ነው፡፡ በልመናው በብዙ ሚሊዮን የሚቆጠር ዶላር እንደሚገኝ በመገመት እነዚህ መንግስታዊ ያልሆኑ ድርጅቶች እጃቸውን በማሻሸት እና ለሀጫቸዉን በማንጠባጠብ ሰፍ ብለው ይጠባበቃሉ፡፡ ግን በልመና ብዙ ዕርዳታ ላያገኙ ይችላሉ፡፡ ለዚህም ነው በሳውዲ አረቢያ መንገዶች ላይ እጃቸውን በመዘርጋት ምጽዋት፣ ቢለምኑ አልደነቅም ያልኩት፡፡

ለኢትዮያችን አለቅሳለሁ፣ ለውዲቷ አገሬ! ግን “ከዋሻው መጨረሻ ብርሃን አለ“

አድሃኖም እንዲህ አሉ፣ “ከዋሻው መጨረሻ ብርሃን አለ፣ እና ይህን እውን እንደምናደርገው እናውቃለን፣ እና ድህነትን ተረት እንደምናደርገው ጥርጥር የለንም”፡፡ እኔ ደግሞ እላለሁ በኢትዮጵያ ምድር ውስጥ ከዘውዳዊነትና ከአምባገነንነት ዋሻ መጨረሻ ብርሃን አለ፡፡ ከአድማስ ባሻገር አዲስ ቀን አለ፡፡ መደጋገፍ አለብን፣ እጅ ለእጅ ተያይዘን ሁለት አስርት ዓመታት እና ከዚያ በላይ ከዘለቀው የጭቆና እና የመሰረታዊ የሰብአዊ መብቶች እጦት ዋሻ ውስጥ ተጉዘን በድል አድራጊነት መውጣት አለብን፡፡

በሳውዲ አረቢያ ያሉ ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት ያሉበትን አስከፊ ሁኔታ አስመልክቶ የተዘጋጁትን የእኔን ትንታኔዎች ያነበበ ሁሉ እኔ በጣም ህግ አጥባቂና ሲበዛ ትንታኔ ሰጭ እንደሆንኩ ሊናገር ይችላል፡፡ እንዲያውም ታላቁን የሰው ልጅ ሰቆቃ “ለመፈላሰፊያ ትምህርታዊ ክህሎት” አውሎታል ብለው ሊከሱኝ ይችላሉ፡፡ ይህን ሊሉ ይችላሉ ምክንያቱም ለዚህች ተወዳጅ አገሬ ምን ያህል እንዳለቀስኩና ምን ያህል ተስፋ እንደቆረጥኩ ስለማያውቁ ነው፡፡ እ.ኤ.አ በ1948 በዚሁ ዓመት አፓርታይድ በአፍሪካ ህግ ሆነ፣ አላን ፓቶን እንዲህ ሲል ጻፈ…”ውዷ ሀገሬ አልቅሽ“… እና በደቡብ አፍሪካ ዕጣ ፈንታ ላይ ያለውን የታሟጠጠ ተስፋ ገለጸ፡፡ የእኔም በኢትዮጵያ ዕጣ ፈንታ ላይ ያለኝ ተስፋ ፓቶን ካለው ጋር ተመሳሳይ ነው፡፡ፓቶን ሲጽፍ፣ ለተገነጣጠለው ጎሳ፣ ለወደቀው ባህልና ህግ አልቅስ! አዎ! ለሞተው ሰውዬ ድምጽህን ከፍ በማድረግ አልቅስ፣ ፍቅሩን ላጣችው ሴትና ለልጆቹ አልቅስ፡፡ ለውድ ሀገርህ አልቅስ፣ እነዚህ ነገሮች በእራሳቸው የመጨረሻ አይደሉም፡፡ ፀሐይ በመሬት ላይ ብርሀኗን ትፈነጥቃለች፣ በተወዳጁ መሬት ሰው ባልተደሰተበት ላይ፡፡ የልቡን ፍርሃት ብቻ ያውቃል፡፡

አኔም በኢትዮጵያ “ለተበጣጠሰው ጎሳ” አለቅሳለሁ፡፡ ከሰውነት በታች ሆነው በሳውዲ አረቢያ ለሚሰቃዩት ወንድሞቸና እህቶቸ በዝምታ አለቅሳለሁ፡፡ በመካከለኛው ምስራቅ ለሚደፈሩት፣ ለሚደበደቡት እና በመስኮት ለሚወረወሩት፣ ከጣራ እና ከዛፍ ላይ ተሰቅለው ለሚሞቱትና በፈላ ውኃ ሰውነታቸውን ለሚጠበሱት እህቶቸ አለቅሳለሁ፡፡ በሳውዲ ሌባ ጭንቅላቱን ለሚበረቅሰው ወጣት አለቅሳለሁ፡፡ ነጻነት በማጣታቸው እና በሀገራቸው መብት እንደሌላቸው በመቆጠራቸው ምክንያት ሀገር ጥለው ለመሰደድ ለሚገደዱት ወጣት ወንዶች እና ሴቶች አለቅሳለሁ፡፡ ህይወታቸውን ለማሻሻል በማሰብ የየመንንና የሳውዲ አረቢያን በረሀዎች ሲያቋርጡ በሞት ለተለዩ ኢትዮጵያውያን አለቅሳለሁ፡፡ በየዕለቱ በኢትዮጵያ አየር መንገድ ወደ ሲኦሉ ሳውዲ አረቢያ ለሚበሩ ወጣት ኢትዮጵያውያት ቆነጃጅት አለቅሳለሁ፡፡

የ2005 ሀገራዊ ምርጫን ተከትሎ በኢትዮጵያ በየጎዳናው በግፍ ለተገደሉት ወጣት ወንዶችና ሴቶች፣ እንዲሁም አባቶች እና እናቶች አለቅሳለሁ፡፡ ለእህቴ ለርዕዮት ዓለሙ እና ለወንድሞች ለእስክንድር ነጋ፣ አንዷለም አራጌ፣ ውብሸት ታዬ፣ በቀለ ገርባ፣ አቡበከር አህመድ፣ እና በብዙ ሺዎች ለሚቆጠሩ የፖለቲካ እስረኞች አለቅሳለሁ፡፡ መሪ በመምሰል በባዶ ልብስ ለተጀቦኑትና በሙሰኛ ሌቦች መዳፍ ስር ለወደቁት ኢትዮጵያውያን/ት አለቅሳለሁ፡፡

አዎ አለቅሳለሁ እናም አለቅሳለሁ፣ “ልቅሶዎቸ ያልተሳኩ ቢሆንም“ ለውዲቷ አገራችን አለቅሳለሁ፣ ግን እኮ ጩኸታችን ይሰማል፣ ደቡብ አፍሪካ ከአፓርታይድ የአምባገነንነት ዋሻ ወጥቷል፣ ኒልሰን ማንዴላም ቃል ገብተዋል…”በፍጹም በፍጹም እና በፍጹም ይህች የተዋበች መሬት ተመልሳ የአንዱ በአንዱ ላይ መጨቆኛ አትሆንም፣ ክብር የታጣባት የተዋረደች ዓለም አትሆንም“::

What can be said more than what my compatriots and the world over said about the shameful act of the ethnic Chiefdom of Woyane regime and the tribal Kingdom of Saudi in the suffering of Ethiopians. How an 18^th century ethnic mercenary at home and tribal Kingdom in Arabia that financed it inflect so much pain and suffering on our people in front of our eyes?

We knew all along when the mercenary ethnic regime sold our people and nation in daylight. We witnessed our people being chased out of their country in every direction to end up in strange lands around the world. We watched when Woyane invites Arabian moguls and Chinese and Indians scavengers with the red carpet treatment in Sheraton Addis owned by the infamous Ethiopian-born Saudi investor to be handed our precious land pennies on the dollar. We were also distraught when our leaders and history tarnished by small time TPLF mercenary that sold it soul for petro dollars of Arab depots, on and on.

Noting should surprise us knowing what Woyane is capable of doing.  We should have known better about the brazen Woyane when it sold donated food out of the mouth of our starving people to sell it for $$$ to finance it crime.

Woyane has proven us again-and-again it a mercenary that came to destabilize and robe Ethiopians one behalf of its petro lords, sadly in the name of Tigray. The Saudi Kingdome’s crime and the silence of Woyane is another evidence the mercenary regime never been and will never be on the side of Ethiopians.

In fact, what is surprising is the expectation of some Ethiopians that Woyane will do anything good to Ethiopians and Ethiopia it never did in its existence. What is even more surprising is there are still people that stick around with the worst ‘regime’ ever seen in our history.

To its credit, Woyane told us over-and-over again it cares less if Ethiopians or Ethiopia go to hell in hand basket. It made it abundantly clear it is only interested what it can sell off for foreign investor for dollar. In spite of that, we keep insisting it is Ethiopian.  Honestly, when you think about, we can’t blame Woyane. It is like asking why fascist Italy invaded and subjugated us.

We have to accept the self declared ethnic mercenary that maneuvered its way to occupy our country is proven to be what it has always been since its inception.  As difficult as it is to accept, we have been under TPLF occupation or as Woyane put it, under Tigray Empire.  Contrary what we believe, an average Woyane today also thinks and acts the same; facilitating the occupation of our nation and robbing our people.

Part of the problem; beside our denial of the reality of what Woyane is all about is the greed  of some of us to join in grabbing the little Woyane throw at us. Some of us actually bigger fools to belive Woyane brought us equality and development played by its camera tricks.  Looking at the little Woyane stooges game is more evidence Woyane is any thing but a mercenary ‘photo shopping’ its survival.

Take the infamous Aiga Forum and Tigray Net in Diaspora as example of village boys going hysterical ‘photo shopping’ to save the mercenary Woyane. What possible reason could there be altering picture besides hiding the deed of a mercenary regime?

If history is a lesson, we are experiencing similar to what Fascist Italy’s occupiers did to us.  Like fascist Italia, Woyane’s first campaign was against Ethiopiawinet labeled as Amahras domination. Woyane was so desperate to undermine Ethiopiawinet it found criminals to play the role of ethnic stooges including Berket Simon, an Eritrean national as representative of ‘Amahara Region’.  Like fascist Italy, its next move was to create animosity among Ethiopians by dividing us in ethnic Chiefdom it calls Federalism. Then, it moved on to secure its economic robbery by creating EFFORT — gabbing up everything imaginable worth a dollar. Like fascist Italia, undermining our past leaders and history continue to be what Woyane is paid to do as a mercenary, on and on.

But, one thing the village mercenary Woyane couldn’t do is to earn legitimacy in the eyes of Ethiopians. No problem, wining election by 99.6% was as simple as ABC thanks to the stooges in the Election Board. In fact one sorry Woyane apologist in Diaspora who referred himself as Doctor… said, “the people have spoken”.  What possible reason could there be cooking numbers besides hiding the deed of a mercenary regime?

Then came; the justification of Woyane’s robbery of our people. No problem there either, it came up with ‘Growth and Transformation Plan’ to bring about ‘Ethiopian Renaissance’. Who would oppose such progressive mercenary but ‘Diaspora extremists, Jihadists, andDergist…’?  What possible reason could there be accusing real Ethiopians terrorist, jihadist…besides hiding the robbery of a mercenary regime?

Finally, the chicken came home to roost. The kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the boss and the financer of the mercenary TPLF/Woyane regime decided it has no use of our people Woyane sold as indenture servants and chased as refugees.  This time around, Woyane became mute and the Petro dollar it was paid to do the job has spoken.

The tribal Kingdom that is as lawless as Woyane on its own citizens tuned uglier on our citizens. Normally, the tribal Kingdom should abide by international treaty it signed as member of the UN to deal with the situation. But, the timid Woyane under its payroll gave it a green light to take the law on its own hand on the citizens of the sovereign state.

Naturally, if the Saudi tribal Kingdom doesn’t have the decency to treat our people humanly the logical answer would be to evacuate its citizens that are exploiting the resources of Ethiopians in partnership with Woyane. But, the mercenary Woyane protects its petro boss than the people it rules.

Incidentally, where is the infamous Ethiopian-born Saudi investor who claimed to love his people more than his dollar? The man that spent millions of dollar to take over the Ethiopian Sport Federation in North America in a name of loving ‘his’ people is nowhere to be found to help ‘his’ suffering people in his own country of Saudi Arabia.   What possible reason could he have to hide beside his love of money that made him to partner with a mercenary regime?

Sadly, seeing Woyane stooges running like a mad dog; biting Ethiopians at home and in the Diaspora brought the true color of the mercenary group we have known as     PLF/Woyane/EPRDF. Fortunately, there would be no more doubts in the mind of any Ethiopian the mercenary regime is anything but…

The good news is Ethiopians finally has spoken in union. The line is as clear as never; Woyane has to go by all means necessary. As we witnessing, the desperate Woyane’s one and only hope-against-all hope became — to cut and paste its way out of Ethiopians demand to surrender.

Before the torment of our people began in the desert of Arabia I was jotting down an article titled ‘Bad boys…bad boys… of Woyane, what you going to do…where you going to run and hide’.  It goes;

“Seeing Woyane bad boys scramble to stay alive by inflicting more pain and suffering on our people is more reason not to nap anymore. We are all at fault in one form or another to abandon our people for TPLF’s mercenaries. We   can do a whole better if we proactively do what needs to be done to rid Woyane than react to events.

We have been fed with poisonous fairytales for all these years – distracting us to see each other as enemies than one people that yearn for freedom to bring about our glories character of tolerance and coexistence and our potential to be the envoy of the world.  When we think about it, it is absurd; when village  mercenary Woyane call us terrorist while terrorizing us or robbing us in daylight and threatening for more or selling us as modern slaves to pocket the money and abandon us for the  shakes…, on and on.

The blame game is over. Our future would be bright when we focus on the important things to our people than reacting to the crime of Woyane. The first thing on our hand is to bring down Woyane on its knees and punish the criminal in its ranks.  The ongoing effort by democratic and armed movements is encouraging but more need to be done. We have to make it abundantly clear, War or Peace Woyane has no choice but to surrender.  If every Woyane stooge doesn’t understand that reality by now it is our responsibility to make sure no Woyane stooge is left behind.”

Therefore, noting is new in Woyane’s behavior on what our people go through in Saudi’s desert Kingdom. Woyane is the same mercenary we knew all these years. Its apologists are the same ethnic drifters that can’t tell the different between a government and a mercenary as long as they get paid in cash or in-kind.

The bigger lesson we can learn in all our suffering and humiliation is the democratic movement isn’t, couldn’t and shouldn’t be in competition with the bottom of the pits, Woyane. It isn’t, couldn’t and shouldn’t be to give or take freedom but to bring about the universal suffrage of our people that can’t be tampered by anyone. Nor, it isn’t, couldn’t and shouldn’t be a slogan to experiment of someone’s wishes on the lives of our people but bring about the universal rights of our people to take charge of their live with no one on their way; noting more and noting less.

In the struggle to rid of the last tyranny in our extended history, we must be mindful of there is life after the brazen Woyane. We must accept what brings us together is the universal rights of our people to live free and exercises their individual rights as they see fit– regardless of one like it or not.  Therefore, what bring us together isn’t, couldn’t and shouldn’t be opposing the ethnic tyranny that brought us so much pain and suffering.

If history is a lesson, opposing ethnic tyranny on its own can’t bring freedom and democracy to our people. It is every Ethiopian responsibility to say we will not tolerate any individual or group that has no desire or credential to bring about the universal suffrage of our people.  We must say in one voice No more tyranny!

While we are at it, we must, without any ambiguity make Woyane’s stooges understand the last tyranny they are babysitting for too long is rotting them out of existence. They have no choice but to surrender for the people’s movement sooner than later; cutting and pasting picture is not going to do it, the most it does is validate they are a mercenary of a mercenary regime.

Be ready to celebrate; Ethiopia will be free from Woyane ethnic tyranny with grace and no one can do anything to stop it.

Over the past decade, hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians have voted with their feet to escape one of the most ruthless and brutal dictatorships in Africa. According to Ethiopia's “Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs”, approximately  200,000 women sought employment abroad in 2012, the vast majority of them in the Middle East.  Many of these workers believed they were jumping out of the fire of dictatorship in Ethiopia, but found  themselves smack in the  middle of the Saudi Arabian frying pan.

It is no exaggeration to say it is open season on Ethiopian migrant workers and others seeking refuge in Saudi Arabia. Every day this month, Saudi police, security officials, mobs and vigilantes have been hunting Ethiopians in the streets, beating, torturing and in some cases killing them. The Youtube video clips of Saudi police torturing Ethiopians are shocking to the conscience. The video clips of Saudi mobs and vigilantes chasing, attacking and lynching Ethiopians in the streets requires no explanation. The photographic evidence of crimes against humanity committed against Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia today are surreal and beyond civilized comprehension.

Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia: Two sides of the same coin

Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia are two sides of the same coin. The Saudi and Ethiopian regimes are soul mates. The Saudi regime is infamous for its human rights record; the regime in Ethiopia has an equally atrocious record. The Saudi regime follows a policy of forcible deportation of Ethiopians from its territory using the most inhuman methods. The regime in Ethiopia follows a ghastly policy of forcible internal deportation (“resettlement”) of  Ethiopians from one part of their  country to  another. The Saudi regime persecutes religious minorities; so does the regime in Ethiopia. The Saudi regime widely practices arbitrary arrests, detentions,  torture and ill-treatment in their prisons; the regime in Ethiopia has perfected such practices in its prisons. The Saudi regime ended slavery in 1962 and continued to perpetuate it by calling it kafala (sponsored migrant workers who work in slave like conditions). In 2009,Bahrain's Labour Minister Majeed al-Alawi likened kefala to slavery. The 2013 Global Slavery Index reports that Ethiopia  is among the top ten countries that account for three quarters of the world’s slaves with 651,000 people held in bondage. Human Rights Watch in its 2013 World Report described the human rights records of Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia in nearly identical terms:

Ethiopian authorities continued to severely restrict basic rights of freedom of expression, association, and assembly in 2012… Human Rights Watch continues to document torture at the federal police investigation center known as Maekelawi in Addis Ababa, as well as at regional detention centers and military barracks in Somali Region, Oromia, and Gambella.

The security forces responded to protests by the Muslim community in Oromia and Addis Ababa, the capital, with arbitrary arrests, detentions, and beatings…  Federal police used excessive force, including beatings, to disperse largely Muslim protesters opposing the government’s interference with the country’s Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs… The Ethiopian government continues to implement its “villagization” program: the resettlement of 1.5 million rural villagers in five regions of Ethiopia ostensibly to increase their access to basic services. Many villagers in Gambella region have been forcibly displaced, causing considerable hardship… The government is also forcibly displacing indigenous pastoral communities in Ethiopia’s Lower Omo Valley to make way for state-run sugar plantations… In South Omo, around 200,000 indigenous peoples are being relocated and their land expropriated to make way for state-run sugar plantations…

With respect to Saudi Arabia, Human Rights Watch reports that

in 2012 stepped up arrests and trials of peaceful dissidents, and responded with force to demonstrations by citizens… As in past years, thousands of people have received unfair trials or been subject to arbitrary detention… Detainees, including children, commonly face systematic violations of due process and fair trial rights, including arbitrary arrest and torture and ill-treatment in detention… Authorities continue to suppress or fail to protect the rights of 9 million Saudi women and girls and 9 million foreign workers…

Some 1.5 million migrant domestic workers remain excluded from the 2005 Labor Law. In years past, Asian embassies reported thousands of complaints from domestic workers forced to work 15 to 20 hours a day, seven days a week, and denied their salaries. Domestic workers, most of them women, frequently endure forced confinement, food deprivation, and severe psychological, physical, and sexual abuse.

Saudi Arabia does not tolerate public worship by adherents of religions other than Islam…  The chief mufti in March called for the destruction of all churches in the Arabian Peninsula…

What “foreign minister” Adhanom said and did not even know he said it

The response of the regime in Ethiopia to the horrendous situation of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia simply boggles the mind.  Tedros Adhanom, the malaria researcher-turned-instant-foreign-minster and the man being  groomed to become prime minister after the 2015 “election”, was befuddled, rambling, incoherent and virtually unintelligiblewhen he spoke before the 3rd International Conference on Family Planning Conference held in Addis Ababa in mid-November.  He brimmed with empty promises and hollow reassurances. He was grandiloquent about his readiness to “receive our fellow citizens home” and  “global solidarity” :

As you know, from Saudi Arabia, you know, although it is just deporting  Ethiopians only, we know, it is deporting other citizens…

I had the last 10 days, because in family planning, as we have been saying, we care for girls and women. I had calls straight from the camps, from women who are crying for help… We have already received hundreds. We are expecting tens of thousands and I would like to assure you that we are ready to receive our fellow citizens home.  

I am so saddened and really depressed. That’s why I was not going to actually come here asking  Dr. Kesete if he could excuse me because it is almost around the clock crisis management since this issue started. But in the name of global solidarity, even if we are going to deport illegals, we can do it smoothly because this is not  war situation. It is maybe accepted when nations are at war to deport like this, in a very rapid fashion, people may understand, but not in peaceful situation.

…  So I am sorry to start with this, it is something that has been bugging me for some time now.

Of course we have been working a lot on long term and short term solutions for long time in Ethiopia now because there are structural problems that we need to address  to solve the problem once and for all. And you know Ethiopia is making progress and growing in double digits, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and we know we can make it, and we know we can eliminate poverty. We are in the right direction but still we believe in global solidarity. But we never expected that this would happen.

For those who don’t know, I will share you one thing. When Prophet Mohammed was being chased immediately after he started Islam, the great religion, he sent his followers to Ethiopia…

… So, sorry I will stop here, but I am glad to share what I feel, to share with you my disappointment, to share with you how the last 10 days have been the most tragic in my life, which we never expected, a complete surprise…

It was truly sad to see Ethiopia’s “top diplomat” delivering  such an incoherent, disjointed and muddled analysis and explanation about the monstrous crimes being committed against Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia. Foreign policy becomes a cruel joke in the hands (mouth) of a malaria researcher-turned-instant- foreign minister. To the extent anyone can reasonably make out Adhanom’s gobbledygook, the following strands can be discerned:

I.  Adhanom said the indescribable tragedy of Ethiopians  in Saudi  Arabia has been “bugging him for some time now”; and he is currently “saddened” and “depressed” by the circumstances of the Ethiopian “ women in the (Saudi Arabian) camps crying for help.” That must be the understatement of the century!

Perhaps Adhanom does not appreciate nuances in the use of English words, particularly colloquialisms. But as a top diplomat, he cannot be excused for his ignorant misuse of words (unless of course his choice of words and phrasing   accurately express his views and feelings). To say what’s happening to the Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia has been “bugging me for some time now” is to say that their situation has been a source of annoyance and minor irritation. It is not a big deal. No top diplomat of any  country on earth would react to the absolutely inhuman and barbaric treatment of  its citizens in another country by saying  the issue has been “bugging him for some time now.”

Adhanom may not understand but words mean everything in the diplomatic world. Words are the stock-in-trade of diplomats. Diplomats make the world stop and go by the choice of their words and their use and sometimes intentional misuse of language. For diplomats, words have artful connotation and denotation. The diplomat’s words are laden with open and hidden messages and encrusted with meaning signaling manifest and latent intentions.  Wars have been fought and peace secured over semantics and the grammatical arrangement of words in diplomatic language. Above all, the words of a diplomat carry not only his personal feelings of “sadness” and “depression” but also the ethos (moral disposition), pathos (the depth of suffering) and even the bathos (sentimentality) of their nation.  

When Adhanom says the situation of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia “has been bugging him for a long time”, he is conveying the most damaging message to the Saudis. He is telling them that the “race hunting” (to borrow a phrase from Ethiopia’s ceremonial prime minster) of Ethiopian migrant workers by Saudi police and vigilantes in the streets of Saudi Arabia is just a tempest in a tea pot. It will blow over.

The dehumanization and abuse of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia is a big, very big deal. Rush hour traffic “bugs” the hell out of me. Students who come to class without completing the assigned readings  “bug” me to no end.  What the Saudis are doing to Ethiopians does not “bug” me. It makes my blood boil. I am inflamed at the sight of the inhumanity and barbarity of the Saudi Police. I am outraged by the cruelty and brutality of Saudi mobs and vigilantes. I am shocked and appalled by the depraved indifference of the Saudi regime to the many acts of crimes against humanity committed against Ethiopian migrant workers. I am bitter and enraged about what the Saudi regime is not doing  to ensure humane treatment of Ethiopian migrant workers as required by international law. I am outraged that the suffering of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia merely “bugs” Adhanom.

In the world of diplomacy, there is time to use soft and conciliatory diplomatic language and  time to use strong and confrontational language. It is a great national tragedy that Adhanom does not seem to know the difference!

II.  Adhanom said what is happening to Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia “may be accepted when nations are at war to deport like this in a very rapid fashion people may understand, but not in peaceful situation.” Adhanom is ignorant of the most elementary principles, rules and conventions of international law.  He is clueless that the laws and customs of war prohibit deportation during war time, which are almost always undertaken for purposes of ethnic cleansing. During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the early 1990s, large numbers of Bosnian Muslims, Croats, Serbs and Bosnians were removed from their traditional homes in a systematic campaign of deportation. That was a war crime. It is not something “people may understand”.  The only exception to the prohibition on deportation and forcible transfers during war time is the evacuation of protected persons on grounds of security of the population or military imperative as defined and circumscribed under Article 49 of the Convention (IV) relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (1949). It is also noteworthy that those Ethiopians in the “migrant  population” who may seek asylum in Saudi Arabia or elsewhere are protected from deportation (“refoulement”) under the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, the 1967 Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees and Article  3 of the 1984 Torture Convention. It is a great national tragedy that Adhanom is untutored on the most elementary rules and principles of international law.

III. Adhanom believes the most urgent problem today in the Ethiopian tragedy in Saudi Arabia is facilitation of their exit out of that country. Stopping the violence, the rape, the murder and torture of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia today is the most urgent, critical, pressing, vital and weighty problem. Adhanom tried to be reassuring by declaring, “Of course we have been working on long-term and short-term solutions for a long time in Ethiopia now because there are structural problems  we need to address for once and all.”  The long and short-term solutions can wait. The daily abuse, mistreatment, injustice and crimes inflicted by the Saudi police, mobs and vigilantes cannot. What is happening to Ethiopians today in Saudi Arabia is a crises of epic proportions. It is a great national tragedy that Adhanom has no ideas, proposals or solutions to stop the violence immediately.

Adhanom said  “we never expected that this would happen”  to Ethiopian migrant workers in Saudi Arabia  He said the whole thing was “a complete surprise” to him. He also said, “we have been working on long-term and short-term solutions for a long time”. This is not only self-contradictory but also an incredibly deceptive statement, and at best a manifestation of Adhanom’s  naivite or ignorance.

It is impossible that the situation of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia could be a “complete surprise” to him because by April of 2013 Adhanom and his regime knew of the Saudi regime’s order notifying undocumented foreign workers to legalize their status or return to countries of origin and avoid deportation, imprisonment and prosecution. Adhanom’s regime, by its own admission, knew that there were large numbers of “illegal migrants” in Saudi Arabia. Adhanom was also aware that in July 2013 the Saudi regime had granted a grace period to undocumented workers and extended the effective date of its initial order to November 2013. Yet Adhanom’s regime did nothing to anticipate and plan for reasonably foreseeable events, including the need for potential mass evacuation of its citizens and confrontational actions by the Saudi police and mobs. How is it possible that Adhanom could not reasonable foresee the humanitarian disaster that befell Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia in November 2013?

It is obvious that Adhanom is clueless about proactive policy making.  He has yet to learn that as the “top diplomat” he has to anticipate and act in advance to prevent and deal with reasonably foreseeable problems and issues.  Goethe is right: “There is nothing is more terrible than to see ignorance in action.”

What Adhanom did not say or do

Adhanom did not say what his regime is doing to stop the violence that is inflicted on Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia even though his regime has “been working on long-term and short-term solutions for a long time”. What is manifest is that Adhanom and his regime are standing by the sidelines twiddling their fingers and scratching their heads as their citizens are hunted down in Saudi streets like wild animals. Not only has Adhanom done nothing to stop the violence, he has not even taken the simplest (symbolic)  actions to bring external pressure on the Saudi regime.  Here are a few of the things Adhanom did not say or do:

Issue a strongly worded statement of condemnation.  Adhanom said his regime has “has condemned Saudi Arabia for its brutal crackdown on migrant workers in the kingdom. This is unacceptable. We call on the Saudi government to investigate this issue seriously. We are also happy to take our citizens, who should be treated with dignity while they are there.” “Unacceptable” is the most condemnatory language Adhanom could muster in the face of the monstrous cruelty, unspeakable barbarism and horrendous brutality and criminality of the Saudi regime, its police force and mobs.  “Investigation” is the most robust action Adhanom would like to see the Saudi regime take in the face of such horrifying crimes.

Adhanom is clueless that “unacceptable” in diplomatic language is a hollow and pointless word used by diplomats to suggest they are saying something when they are saying nothing at all.  It is also a word that means everything: “There will be no consequences”. Such is the nature of diplomatic language. A single sentence can convey two mutually exclusive intentions.  By telling the Saudi ambassador that what is happening to Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia is “unacceptable”,  Adhanom is basically telling him that he is just window dressing the issue until it blows over and they will be able to continue with business as usual.  Suffice it to say that “unacceptable” is  “a word used by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing” and everything!

Summon the ambassador of the host country and read him the riot act and demand an immediate stop to the police and vigilante violence.  Adhanom summoned the Saudi Arabian ambassador and told him, “Ethiopia would like to express its respect for the decision of the Saudi Authorities and the policy of deporting illegal migrants. At the same time, it condemns the killing of an Ethiopian and mistreatment of its citizens residing in Saudi Arabia.” How servile and bootlicking can one become?! No country on earth that cares for its citizens would say it “respects” the policy of another state that victimizes its citizens.  Adhanom is clueless that the issue is not about Saudi sovereignty over its territory or implementation of its immigration policy; it is about the Saudi regime’s actions and lack of actions that have made possible commission of crimes against humanity against large numbers of Ethiopian migrant workers.

Moreover, neither Adhanom nor his foreign ministry have publicly indicated that a diplomatic protest has been lodged with the Saudi foreign ministry.  A “letter of protest” or “diplomatic note” is often presented  by one state's foreign ministry to another unapologetically taking a stand against the foreign government's policy deemed offensive.  A letter of protest would never use the word “unacceptable”.  It would minimally mention something about “serious consequences” and “damaging relations” if things are not improved. Adhanom should make public the letter of protest he lodged with the Saudis, assuming he has done so. 

Seek a resolution from the African Union condemning the human rights abuses of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia. Hailemariam Desalegn, the ceremonial prime minster of Ethiopia and the man keeping the seat warm for Adhanom until the 2015 “election”, is the current rotational chairman of the African Union. Hailemariam  went through hell and high water trying to mobilize the African Union to stop the “race hunting” of  African leaders by the International Criminal Court and engineer the withdrawal of African countries from the Rome Statute. When hundreds of thousands of his citizens are being “race hunted” in the streets of Saudi Arabia by police, mobs and vigilantes, he says nothing, does nothing. (By the way, where the hell is “prime minister” Hailemariam? Has anyone heard him talk about the "race hunting" of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia?)

Notify the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to immediately begin an investigation. The UNHCR is mandated by the United Nations to “lead and coordinate international action for the worldwide protection of refugees and the resolution of refugee problems.”  It has investigative powers to look into the abuse and mistreatment of refugees. Adhanom did not say he has requested a UNHCR investigation, and there is no evidence he has made such a request. Moreover, the UNHCR has the logistical capability to help move migrant workers from conflict zones. For instance, in 2011 when violent anti-government protests erupted in Libya, the UNHCR facilitated the exit of tens of thousands of migrant workers into neighboring countries.

Lodge a complaint and request an investigation by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Among the core purposes of the OHCHR is to “respond to serious violations of human rights” and “undertaking of preventive human rights actions”.  Instead of asking the Saudi regime to initiate an investigation, Adhanom should have requested an investigation and intervention by the OHCHR and UNHRC.

Allow Ethiopians citizens to peacefully protest in front of the Saudi Embassy. The people of Ethiopia are humiliated and shamed by the crimes committed and continue to be committed against their brothers and sisters in Saudi Arabia. Adhanom spoke of the Prophet Mohamed sending his followers to Ethiopia to seek refuge. It is true Ethiopia was once hallowed ground where people sought refuge, comfort and assistance. Nelson Mandela and other African National Congress leaders came to Ethiopia in 1962 to receive training. Mandela was given an Ethiopian passport by order of H.I.M. Haile Selassie so he could travel throughout the world freely. Ethiopians were once respected and honored the world over. Today, they are victimized and enslaved. They are beaten and jailed when they speak their minds. When they went to protest in front of the Saudi Embassy in Addis Ababa, they were treated in the same way as the Saudi police treated the Ethiopians in that country. They were humiliated, beaten mercilessly and arrested. The spokesman for the regime,  Shimelis Kemal, said the regime had to take action against the peaceful demonstrators because “many of the demonstrators carried anti-Arab messages that sought to distort strong relations between Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia.”

I guess no one can get in the middle of a tiff between soul mates. Let Adhanom and his regime take note:  “Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.”

No special task force assembled to deal with the emergency. When a crisis of the type facing Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia occurs, any regime that cares for its citizens will institute an emergency task force to coordinate the response.  Civil society groups would be mobilized to help in the re-absorption of the returning migrant workers.  International humanitarian organizations would be contacted to lend assistance.  Adhanom and his regime are calculating that the situation of the Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia shall soon pass and they will continue business as usual handing over many more millions of hectares of land to Saudi investors.

What Adhanom will say

Adhanom and his regime have issued public assurances that they have set aside 50 million birr to repatriate and rehabilitate the returnees from Saudi Arabia. That is a drop in the bucket. That’s barely USD$2 million. There is no way they can transport, transition and relocate 200 thousand or so returnees on a measly $USD2 million. There is also no evidence that the regime has that kind of money to spare for the particular task.  According to the July 2013 International Monetary Fund Staff Mission Statement, Ethiopia has foreign exchange reserves to barely cover 3 months of imports.

It is inevitable that Adhanom and his regime will soon be out in the international diplomatic streets with their begging bowls asking for aid to bring back the returnees and relocate them. Of course, they will have established  their own non-profit organizations in advance to suck up any aid money that will be provided.  Adhanom will be panhandling, “We need  money, more money, mo’ money for our migrant workers coming from Saudi Arabia.” His flunkies will be all over the Diaspora panhandling for nickels and dimes just as they have done to “build” the Great Nile Dam or whether it is they call it. It will be a windfall for the regime’s NGOs. They are rubbing their palms and drooling at the prospects of millions of dollars in handout. Not so fast; they will probably not get much in handouts. That’s why I would not be surprised to see them standing in the streets of Saudi Arabia stretching out their hands and soliciting alms, “baksheesh, baba! baksheesh!"

I cry for our Ethiopia, the beloved country, but “there is a light at the end of the tunnel”

Adhanom said “there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and we know we can make it, and we know we can eliminate poverty.” I say there is a light at the end of the tunnel of tyranny and dictatorship in Ethiopia. There is a new day on the horizon. We must hold on, hold hands together and march straight out of the tunnel of two decades plus of oppression and denial of basic human rights.

Those who have read my analysis of the dire situation of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia might say I am too legalistic and overly analytical.  They may even accuse me of “over-intellectualizing ” a great human tragedy.  They may say that because they don’t know how much I despair and cry for our beloved Ethiopia. In 1948, the same year Apartheid became law in South Africa, Alan Paton wrote in “Cry, the Beloved Country”, and expressed the deep despair he felt over the fate of South Africa. My own deep despair over the fate of Ethiopia parallels Paton’s.

Cry for the broken tribe, for the law and the custom that is gone. Aye, and cry aloud for the man who is dead, for the woman and children bereaved. Cry, the beloved country, these things are not yet at an end. The sun pours down on the earth, on the lovely land that man cannot enjoy. He knows only the fear of his heart.”

I cry for the “broken tribe” of Ethiopia. I cry in silence for our brothers and sisters who are held in subhuman bondage in Saudi Arabia. I cry for our sisters who are raped, beaten and thrown out of windows to their deaths and hanged from ceiling and tree tops and scalded with hot water all over the Middle East. I cry for the young man whose head was sliced open by a Saudi thug.  I cry for those young men and women who feel compelled to leave their country because they do not feel free; they do not feel they have rights. I cry for those Ethiopians who died crossing the deserts of Yemen and Saudi Arabia seeking to improve their lives. I cry for those precious young ladies who take daily flights on Ethiopian Airlines into the Saudi Arabian Hell.

I cry for those young men and women, father and mothers who were murdered in cold blood in the streets in Ethiopia after the 2005 election. I cry for my sister Reeyot Alemu and for my brothers Eskinder Nega, Andualem Aragie, Woubshet Taye, Bekele Gerba, Abubekar Ahmed and the many thousands of Ethiopian political prisoners. I cry for Ethiopians who suffer under the heavy boots of corrupt thugs and empty suits who pretend to be leaders.

Yes, I cry and cry and “trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries.” I cry for our beloved Ethiopia. But our cries shall not go unheard. South Africa emerged from the tunnel of apartheid tyranny; and Mandela promised, “Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world.”  Ethiopians shall soon regain their dignity and honor at home and abroad. They shall no longer be the “skunks of the world”; and deep in my heart I do believe Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God and we shall rejoice and cry no more!
